Rosemary Hunter's Challenge Test Print
Written by Alison Smith
Sunday, 11 November 2007
pee

Rosemary Hunter has applied for the JREF's Million Dollar Challenge with the extraordinary claim that she can make people urinate with the power of her mind.

Her protocol negotiations are complete, and Ms. Hunter will be visiting the JREF on November 12th to perform her test - which will consist of using this Paranormal Urination ability on Jeff Wagg, the JREF's General Manager.

Ms.Hunter will have fifteen minutes to complete the test, which you can witness live via webcam.

If Mr. Wagg urinates during the test, it will be considered a success, and Ms. Hunter will move on to the final Challenge. If he does not, the test will be considered a failure, and Ms. Hunter's Challenge file will be closed.

UPDATE: The test results are in!

Rosemary Hunter completed the preliminary challenge test today. The results were negative. She was extremely cooperative and polite throughout the process, and can reapply in one year's time.

As we British say... you have GOT to be taking the piss.

Sorry.

Someone had to say it.

I just watched the test, unfortunately there was no sound. I'm guessing from the lack of a wet spot that the test was a failure. Then again, I didn't really have to watch the test to know what would happen.

This is just more proof of all the important stuff I miss when I am at work! Well, I guess it sounds like Jeff still has his dignity...

Clearly the flood of conductive effluent shorted out the mikes..

The test went well but unfortuantely Roseymary did not pass. Mr Wagg's pants displayed NO moisture at all during the entire test. Watch for the full test to be uploaded to youtube with SOUND!

Wait... who IS Rosemary Hunter. The only person I can find by that name is an author, women's rights advocate and is a former Dean of the Griffith law school in Australia.

So the question stands -- who is this OTHER Rosemary Hunter? I've done a web search and can find nothing about her. Aren't applicants supposed to have a media profile now?

A number of years ago I made a similar claim, but was not taken seriously.

Yes, the test results were dry. I have to say though, that Rosemary was delightful to work with, and she was very cooperative throughout the entire process. She did not complain or offer excuses.

As for the media presence, she did get an article published in a newspaper about her ability, and the reporter did say there was an effect. The article is no longer available online.

Rosemary can be retested in a year's time.

That's very funny Abdul, I certainly cannot understand why you were not taken seriously but keep trying because I, prior to the fight, had a dream that Muhammad Ali would knock out George Foreman in the the last few seconds of the 8th round and it came true. I was about 13 or 14 at the time and I was so confident that it woudl happen that I bet one of my foster parents $10.00. I also bragged throught school to everyone I could. After Ali knocked Foreman out with a few seconds remaining in the 8th round, I went to my foster mother and asked for the $10.00. She refused to pay, so I called her a bitch and then her husband beat the mess out of me. Now, of course I cannot prove, nor do I believe that my dream had anything to do with my having gained some sort of insight into the future but the experience was and remains quite fun to relive. But in your case, please keep trying, because I too believe that under the circumstances you presented that you would be accurate 100% of the time and therefore, saved from a death due to stoning. And good Luck, I'm praying or chanting or at least imagining you won't get beaten for your predictions.

I would like to suggest that for any comparable future tests, the object of the attempted influence should remain on-camera (or whatever it takes to show affected/not affected) for just as long as they are able, up to an additional time equal to the duration of the test. It would not do for the subject to assert that "he ran right off as soon as the clock struck" for example.

Though I am explicitly NOT asserting this test subject was like that at all. She seems like a sincere nice lady from all that I have read.

But if Mr Wagg were to state that it was an additional 25 minutes, or two hours, or whatever, before he made that next trip "down the hall" I believe that information would be of interest to the general public.

This seems like a typical case of misunderstood statistics. In informal tests the apparent hits seem mind boggling, the misses reasonably infrequent.

Then comes a real, valid test and everything takes a completely different color.

My next "trip down the hall" was 6.5 hours after the test. And I was on camera for the entire test, though that is not shown in the posted video.
