The Bad Astromer (Phil Plait) lets us know that we will be ok and that this asteroid will not hit earth as some websites are claiming. He says:
For those who haven’t been following this saga, some doomsayers have been claiming that an asteroid named 2007 TU24 poses a grave threat to Earth. These fearmongers are completely wrong, scaring lots of others, and are apparently unwilling to listen to reason. The videos still make outrageously bad claims and the websites still make utterly false statements. I decided to make my own video so that the truth can get out to as many people as possible.
Phil Runs www.badastronomy.com where he educates the public about all things Astronomy related.
Thank you Phil for clearing this one up, misinformation is dangerous and it's great to have you out there providing the truth.
Thanks for the info, Phil! Great stuff as always! As a psychology professor, I'm constantly dispelling such myths, rumors, etc. for my students. Many of them are very bright, but surprisingly easily convinced by doomsday reports they hear about via the news media, on the Internet, etc.
See you at the next TAM!

WE ARE ALL GONNA DIE!!!!
...not by this asteroid, but eventually, yes, we will all expire.
lots of bored folks out there. love this site. i wonder if the asteroid might affect the abilities of some of the applicants (such as the woman who claimed to be able to cause individuals to urinate themselves by using her mind). How tragic that would be. I'm sure that may piss her off... sorry. couldn't resist.
