As promised, James Randi reveals how it's possible to make a compass move with "the power of your mind," and shows just how easy it is to be fooled by this trick he used to perform at summer camp.

Here’s a little lyrical tribute to another great performance by James Randi. I’m not sure what to title it—Woo-woo Boohoo, or maybe Busted Compass (pun intended). Perhaps I should e-mail Geller and ask him which he prefers.
North and South, East and West,
The compass needle dances To the hidden magnet’s test.
Then Geller boasts deceitfully, “I use no hocus-pocus!”
But Randi shows us how it’s done, And proves that claim is bogus!

thanks james i just wonder how the self-deluded folk will respond to this video, will send it to that oscar person from sweden, i'm sure he can think of some reason why this magnificent feat cannot be performed with a small magnet ^^

My guess would be that they'll claim "Yeah, you could do it that way, but Geller does it by magic!" Last time I looked at the Geller-video, a bunch of comments were from this one person ranting how this 'analysis' of the video disproved its claims that Geller was caught cheating: http://reporter.blackraiser.com/?p=534 And then it goes on trying to claim that Randi Schimnosky, a frequent commenter at (among other sites) Box Turtle Bulletin, is actually James Randi in disguise, and goes off the deep end from there.
It seems that pointing out that Geller is a fraud by posting videos of him cheating constitute "smearing" him. But trying to paint Randi (both of them) as a pedophile, apparently, does not.
Ah, hm. Apparently I just reposted a link to the original article by Kapnistos that Randi was replying to. Stupid me.

A co-worker turned me on to this video. Thanks Aaron. This was really cool. I knew it was magnents but didn't know how small they could be or how easy it would be to hide them.
