Some Good Suggestions - Badly Expressed PDF Print E-mail
Written by James Randi

From a site to which I cannot send you, comes this set of questions, comments, and suggestions, from an angry individual who has been found in SWIFT before… I cannot send you to the site, because he uses obscenities and downright juvenile language to express his strong feelings, so I have – admittedly – censored what follows so that the important content is more easily accepted. I’m annoyed by having to search for grammatical errors, tasteless language, and spelling mistakes, but I do so when I feel it’s called for. No, I’m no “bluenose,” and I don’t recognize “obscenity” as anything but poor taste, but since we have no control over who reads this openly-accessible site, I’ve chosen to spare readers as much annoyance and offense as I can.

Boylan Praised PDF Print E-mail
Written by James Randi

It appears that Dr. Richard Boylan hasn’t been at all slowed down in his efforts to preach woo-woo. From October 25th, we were forwarded this set of endorsements of his campaign. From UFOFacts Yahoo Groups we see kudos for his pretentious “StarKid & Star Seed Adult Workshop” held in Pennsylvania. Here are a few examples:

What a wonderful experience!!! I have no other words to describe what you kindly shared with us. Thank you so much.

ssb.jpgAt the JREF, we've been a huge supporter of Robert S. Lancaster and his and sites.  You'll notice that I didn't link to stopsylviabrowne this time... that's because that site has been taken over by someone who does not have the same interests as Robert. Sadly, during Robert's illness, his domain lapsed and was instantly snatched up by someone who may or may not be associated with Sylvia Browne.

Woo in Review: FRINGE PDF Print E-mail
Written by Alison Smith

fringe.jpgFringe is a science fiction television show created by three ex-writers from the show Alias – most notably, J.J. Abrams, creator of Lost. No matter what else I say about Fringe, it definitely did one thing for me, at least. It quietly and completely removed all hope that Lost is going to be concluded in anything resembling a logical manner.

As an awesome video game reviewer once said, "This is just all bad all the time, to the degree where it starts getting rather worrying." He wasn't talking about Fringe, but it totally works here as well. Woo in Review: FRINGE (FOX)
Processed Food PDF Print E-mail
Written by Brian Dunning
Here is another one of those terms too often thrown around loosely: “processed food.” It’s never used in a positive or even neutral way; it’s almost always meant negatively. It’s a weasel word.

I wondered what processed food really is. What does it mean? What makes processed food so bad? What exactly are these evil processes?
