tam8appIt's official: we're launching our very first smartphone "app," for TAM 8. It's available for iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch, Android, and Blackberry devices. Created for the JREF by the folks at Core-Apps, this app will allow you to view:

  • TAM 8 Schedule
  • Speakers Bios
  • Maps
  • Your own custom schedule
  • Twitter feed
  • and Alerts

Contents are updated every time you load the app, so if there's a change it will be reflected on your device.

We hope this is the first of many apps to come from the JREF. To find the app, search for "TAM8" in your app store, or visit iTunes. You can also vist http://m.core-apps.com/tam8 with your device.

Android version

I have both an iPod Touch and an Android.. The iPod Touch version is very slick and nice.. The Android app could use some improvements.

Being able to "favorite" stuff on the Touch is much easier, and it shows you on the list of events if you've copied it to your personal calendar, but you have to drill down into it on Android.

Also, the speaker pictures seem to be missing on the Android side.

But that said, it's a fantastic tool and very cool. I will be using this.. But I'll probably be using it on my Touch more than my Droid.

The android version is still in its infancy, and there will be several updates before the show. The iPhone app has been in constant development since before last year's TAM (we did the event unofficially last year). We love feedback, so keep sending it along, including any problems. We're trying our best to get the Android client closer and closer to the iPhone client's capabilities.

If you visit http://m.core-apps.com/tam8 with your Blackberry, you should have it. (I don't have a blackberry!) I understand the Blackberry version is more of a web app.

The iPod app seems to work very well and I want to thank you for getting it set up. One error I've noticed on the initial version, though, is that the "Drinking Skeptically at TAM 8" unofficial event is listed for Friday. That's wrong--it needs to be changed to Thursday (still 9PM) in order to avoid confusion and transfer correctly to the individual schedule.

Blackberry app

Yes, the blackberry app is a slick browser app that is very simple and easy to use. I LOVE it. It runs great (of course I am on my home network currently =D) but will be testing it in a low EDGE network location *shhhh* *at work* tomorrow. I totally dig it. What a great idea! Thank you so much for doing this!
