Very Revealing... PDF Print E-mail
Swift
Written by James Randi

vithoulkasYou probably know that homeopathy involves diluting substances down well beyond Avogadro's Limit, to the point where there are no atoms or molecules of the substance remaining - but the medicinal value is said to still be there. Don't look at me!  It's their idea, not mine! It's all a matter of magical vibrations, of course...

If you've ever wondered what homeopathy is really all about, you can now have revealed to you by a devout disciple of the calling, George Vithoulkas, on his website. Go to www.vithoulkas.com/content/view/1965/147/lang,en/ and scroll down the left margin to "Basic Ideas in Homeopathy." Click on that, and you'll see a complete and comprehensive description of this art. Better informed, you'll now be able to discuss this with friends, and not be embarrassed.

Just another service of the JREF!

I actually listened to his lecture on phosphorus. What a lot of gibberish and unintellectual thought streaming that was!

Just a couple of hours ago I was in my local supermarket to buy some painkillers in their small drugstore. I bought generic paracetamol for € 0,99. In front of me was a lady that wanted homeopathic painkillers. She decided on Apis Mellifica D6 at € 11,95 for 200 granules (whatever that means).
I was tempted to interfere and warn the lady that all she bought was filler, but I thought it prudent to say nothing.
What would you do?

Thanks to 2 paracetamols my headache has gone smilies/smiley.gif

I would have asked if the product was suggested to her. Perhaps she didn't know that there were no active ingredients in it.

Yarro.
You did nothing? That's like choosing to fight homeopathy with homeopathy. It doesn't work.

Great post Mr. Randi. I laughed hard!

Oh I see the light!!! Nothing cures NOTHING...I am a homemopath!!!
I think I could prove that in a Million $ challenge
Protocol:
1)I enter a room with JREFers and someone with an ailment
2)I do NOTHING
3)the JREFers will document that NOTHING happens to that ailing person
4) I get a million because I showed homeopathy is right...Nothing cures nothing.
ok maybe not...JR get back to me

ha, noticed a section on the page titled "Clinical Trials At Hospitals". Intrigued, I clicked on it and was quite underwhelmed by the staggering amount of entries.....one to be exact.

and the results of the one study (some headache mumbo jumbo) were described as "inconclusive".....sounds about right.

@DrNO:
homeopathy is right...Nothing cures nothing.

Ah, but is it not also true that nothing cures everything? Verily, nothing is better than homeopathy!

Ow. Yarro, can I have two of those paracetamols? I think I sprained my brain while typing that.

Destroying the evidence?
written by bobertp, June 05, 2009
Just went to the site mentioned. Clicking on the link "Basic Ideas of Homeopathy" brings up a page with no text. Anybody else have this problem?

Well, at least your mind was vacant only for a moment. Homoeopaths have a much bigger, that is to say a much smaller, problem than that.

That's the second funniest comment about homeopathy I've seen
written by DoctorSeth, June 06, 2009
The first, and I'm not sure the origin, but it's a classic:
If you forget to take your homeopathic remedy, is that an overdose?
