Reader P.T. Quinn in Ann Arbor writes about a currently vapid claim
that the existence of UFOs from outer space will now surely be proven:
Apparently some bookies have stopped taking bets because they think the
odds of a UFO making an appearance aren't in their favor:
We now have seven-figure liabilities if the ship does appear. We have
decided to duck any more big bets until the 14th has passed, hopefully
without incident.

It is with great regret that we note the passing last Monday – after a long and difficult illness – of geophysicist and prominent member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, Professor Attila Mesko. He was a scholar who received many awards, and will be greatly missed by the scientific community. |
